I want to put electric start on a yamaha 6L2K 25 MLH L-1047551 F. a 2 stroke. How much will it cost? And what parts do I need? Bob Ericson bobconericson@Yahoo.com

Cost will probably be about what the motor is worth. Might be better off selling the manual start and buying an electric start model.

Starter motor is 300 bucks. Flywheel is about 800 bucks. A couple more hundred for miscellaneous electrical parts and then there is labor.

There is no kit from Yamaha. You will have to do your own engineering. Go to the Yamaha parts catalog and compare a 25MLH to a 25ELH. Whatever the parts differences are will show you what needs to be changed out. Then hope that the block has provisions for mounting the starter motor and other components.

The parts catalog at this website will show you the cost of each part that is needed.
