  • F40 Rectifier/regulator

Just found that something is draining start battery when not in use.

After searching accessory components, recharged battery and ran engine and noticed that it was not charging the normal 13+ vdc. Being sure everything is Off, there is a small spark when disconnecting and touching Ground terminal. I suspect the Rectifier/regulator is bad.

This Rectifier/regulator was replaced about 18 months ago. That one was probably damaged by a bad/loose Ground. Have since keep a close watch on battery terminals.
    This time no bad Ground.

Any assistance in troubleshooting the root cause would be good.

Keith, that has nothing to do with what they are asking.

I would test the lighting coil voltage input to RR and the out put of the RR according to the service manual.
A bad ground anywhere could cause problems
