  • How to check ignition timing on 2010 9.9 hp 2 stroke

I was wondering how to check the ignition timing on a 2011 2stroke 9.9 hp outboard yamaha , and what are the specs ,rpm , I can see a mark on the flywheel and indicator on the case , also is cylinder number one used and is number one cylinder the top one? To adjust is it done but turning the adjustment rod advance lever?
    Thanks
    Don

A Yamaha service manual for your motor is what you need to be looking for.
Since they no longer sell 2 stokes here in USA you will need to find the manual else where. check with local dealer.
Yes top cylinder is #1. Hook timing light to #1 plug wire and point light at the timing mark at idle to see what is is set at right now
