  • F150 Oil Drain Thread Size

Would like to know thread size in order to find a fitting to attach a hose for oil changes.

Also if anyone is aware of manufactured fitting for oil change.

    do yourself a HUGE favor.
simply buy a vacuum extraction tool and suck it out the dipstick tube.
works faster and easier with NO chance of drain plug thread damage.
this damage can occur on removal OR insertion of the plug.

I bought a vacuum extractor, Now I LOVE changing the oil!! My pop is a retired mechanic who knows a lot of tricks, ... he was even impressed when I showed him how easy it is...best $80 bucks I spent on the boat!

          The drain plug is 14 X 1.5mm.

I second/third/fourth the suggestion to suction the oil from the oil pan. In less time than you can remove the drain plug you can vacuum the oil out.

Never a chance of stripping the drain plug. But when you do you now know that you will need a size 14 X 1.5mm Helicoil to repair the stripped hole.

like I said, its not always stripped by overtightening.
occasionally the threads gall to the plug(stainless VS aluminium) and the oil pan threads come out with the plug.

I NEVER EVER remove the plug unless I am removing the oil pan from the upper casing.
and then only on models that its mandatory.

Speaking of drain plugs, how do you feel about F150 balancers? I think that you have an F150. Have you ever replaced your balancer assembly?

After a certain number of hours would you replace it with an updated configuration even if you did not hear any signs of distress? A guy on another forum was asking me for advice as to what he should do with his. He is a bit paranoid because he has been on the internet too much. He has a -03-00 balancer assembly and a -04-00 is the latest configuration.

my 07 F150 is on its third balancer at about 242 hours.
while failure of the -03 balancer is rare it does happen.
typically they will whine for 40-50 hours before failing.
