  • Disabling oil injection 2001 60 HP (60TLRZ)

My friend recently purchased this engine that the previous owner disabled the oil injection. All that was done by the PO, was the oil tank removed and the oil level gauge disable with a ty wrap, but still plugged in to the harness. We went ahead and plugged up all the lines on the three carbs and the pump itself. We also removed the oil level gauge and capped off the alarm wire. My question, is should the oil pump drive shaft be removed?

yes the pump should not be turning if there is no oil to lube it.
I guess the drive shaft is what rides on the gear on crankshaft

Would you know the ballpark adjustment for the idle mixture screws on this engine and the idle rpms?

          1 1/2 + or - 1/4.

800 in neutral. 600 just into gear.
