  • Confused on this throttle control

    Someone please help me I have been trying to figure out what this is called for days. It's the part circled in red.

          It is a part that goes on the side of a smaller outboard to control the throttle. Does this picture work?

              Dylan, I don't what year or even what model engine you have there (tip... it's always good to list that... help us help you!). But I assume you know what you have... at the top of this page is a link to parts diagrams. Find your year/model and look through the diagrams and you should be able to figure things out.

                I can enlarge the pic on the lap top but can't post it here for some reason.

                In any event, I've never seen anything like that attached to the engine in that area, NEVER...

                Where/what does it attach to?

                I suspect someone did did some "re-engineering"...

                  reminds me of the 35 evenruid I had.
                  shifter cable hooked thru it ,but the shift lever was back farther sticking out and end of cable hooked into it
