I was able to found the correct shims, some used (from a Yamaha machine shop) and some new (from Yamaha dealer). Replaced the shims per the service manual, re-installed, re-checked valve clearance, back up and running.

These shims are 30.0mm diameter. I looked all over and could not find another manufacturer/engine that uses the same shims -- Yamaha is your only option unless you have them custom made. There are plenty 29.0mm and 29.5mm out there. The Pegaso 650 uses 30.0mm shims, but the smallest thickness is 2.70mm. I did find a machine shop in Australia that offered to make them for me.

      thanks for posting your info,

I would think that the valve seats/faces , or stems could also be trimmed a little as needed if the proper shims could not be found.
But that is just a random thought I had
