  • Mismatched Carbs

Doing some preventative maintenance on an engine I got about 2 seasons ago. Getting into the carbs for inspections and cleaning and noticed that the upper carb was not the same as the other two.

Engine is 1993 200TXRR and found the bottom two were 6R401 and the top is a 6G603. According to the manual it only lists the 6R401.
Before I go down the path of changing the carb to spec, can anyone give me a valid reason why it would have been changed out?

Engine seemed to idle a little rough last year hence the thought of cleaning, rebuilding and then tuning the carbs.

    Looking for some feedback.

Maybe it works just as well? Someone in the past changed the carb, but couldn't find the "original" so they replaced it with a comparable unit?

Based on your first post, it sounds like everything was running well for the first season. Which means that carb isn't to blame for the recent running issues. With all that in mind, I wouldn't consider replacing it.
