    Pretty sure I am seeing score marks where the ports are, not a lot of aluminium there, and I am pretty sure my first thoughts are correct.

      you will be lucky if it cleans up at .025mm over.
      most likely closer to .05mm.
      looks like that piston got hot not a lack of lube.
      typically when the skirt transfers that much metal its due to excessive piston heat.
      could be coked rings that failed to transfer enough piston heat or a cooling system deficiency.
      but it doesn't look like a lube failure.
      once its apart carefully inspect the skirts and crank and wristpin journals.
      blueing will indicate way hot or lube failure.

      like I said lube failures typically show up as crank or wristpin failures.

      once its back together and you have to run it on premix anyway there is an oil line output test.
      the original pump is NLA but there is a mikuni kit.
