  • DIGITAL MULTI-FUNCTION TACHOMETER - 6Y5-8350T-D0-00 for 2016 VF115LA

    Hello All,
I''m the 2nd owner of a 2016 Xpress aluminum boat with the VF115LA. It currently has a working tach with what I believe to be basic diag functions, it does not have a trim indicator, chronometer display, etc...just the analog tach.

I really want to buy this but have a few questions please:
    1) Are there any additional harnesses/devices I would need for this to work for me?

    2) Are the total operating hours displayed from the ECU, or does it start from zero?

    3) The YDS for this motor is still, as far as I know, a dealer only item. I've been informed of this https://www.simyamaha.com/YAMAHA_DIA...andoproyam.htm but I'm just not comfortable purchasing it as I don't really need it right now. Will this 6Y5-8350T-D0-00 work in lieu of the YDS?

    Thanks in Advance!

the 6Y5 tachometer is a "digital analog" (analog digital?)
    it has a 'digital' display
but it receives its data as an 'analog' gauge.
    It does display trim,
but the 'running hours' that it displays are only what it, itself, counts.
(so, when you buy it, it 'starts from zero")
however, if you currently have an analog tach,
it would use the same electrical harness.

You perhaps want the 6Y8 tachometer (I think 6Y8-8350T-20-00)
that will display the hours stored in the engine ECM
and has the ability to display engine trouble codes
(along with a number of engine operating parameters)

for that 6Y8 "Command Link" tach,
you would a different type of wiring harness than your current.

I personally would not be in a hurry to spend $400 on a "YDS substitute"
    I wonder, though -
if perhaps the old YDIS 3.1 (available on eBay for ~$60)
    might work on a VF115.
