  • Looking for help with 2014 25 HP 4 Stroke

    Recently been having issues with my 25hp not running correctly. The best explanation is when it gets to about half throttle there is no more acceleration, but the rpms seem to still increase. At least it sounds like it. Replaced the prop, still the same issue. All the parts, too include thrust washer, spacer, and nut look to be in solid condition. No hub to spin, but it feels that way.

    Outside of something inside the lower unit, anyone.have a simple fiz or heard of such symptoms? Really not looking forward to taking it to the shop!

    gears do not slip and then get better.
    I guess the drive shaft splines into the power head could strip out.
    might drop the lower unit to check

    was it a new prop or a used one?
    I would mark the prop and hub to see if the marks get misaligned

    has this motor run well on this boat in the past?
    could be it is not set up properly(set too high on the transom)

      @99yam40,

      Yes, brand new prop. The old one had some dinged up blades.
      To my knowledge it doesn't have the usual "hub" mechanism. The prop and spacer are ridged to turn with opposite teeth of the spindle?
      Motor was running fine up till these symptoms.

        Agreed with Yam99. Sounds like the prop is spun.

        I'd put the original prop back on and mark it. I suspect as well, it's "spun".

          @Townsends,

          Might agree with you as well, as it seems like the symptoms. However two things: this motor does not have a hub to spin and it does the same exact thing with the old prop and a brand new prop.
