  • Oil pump adjustment?

I am replacing the oil pump on my '85 70hp. The replacement part is different from the original and requires an adapter to mount. I am assuming that this replacement pump is now being used on more than one model and that is why there are so many extra parts with it. I think I understand how to mount it but I am not sure how to adjust it. By the looks of it I believe that the linkage has to be changed also. I don't want to burn up my motor.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Set the throttle on engine to idle and install oil link arm and adjust so that the arm on oil pump has about a 2mm gap between arm and stop pin on body of oil pump, put a 50:1 oil mix in gas tank, bleed oil pump by way of bleed screw on top of oil pump. To help bleed air out of oil pump and oil lines disconnect the oil link arm and run engine at idle for about 10 minutes.
