question what does the fork rod that goes from throttle linkage to the shift linkage do on my 1996 30 hp three cylinder changing from tiller to remote it was not hooked up and was laying under intake when installed it will allow throttle up in forward and reverse but will not allow throttle up in neutral is this protection so you cannot engage gears while throttled up ?

yes # 36 I just assumed it was so you could not put in gear at high rpm's. Yes it was disconnected when I got the boat and since I did a remote control conversion it will probably work in conjunction with my new 703 shifter.
