  • 2004 Yamaha F50TLRC Starter Cuts Off

At certain times when I crank the engine the starter disengages by itself even though i still have the key in start position. And the engine does not start. After a few tries it will start. Does this engine have a sensor that disengages the starter automatically if it does not start right away?

    No.
that sounds like possibly bad contacts in the ignition switch,
    but more likely,
low voltage at the engine under the load of cranking,
to the point where the solenoid can not be held in
(and too low for the engine to start).

So weak battery or voltage drop in the cables / connections.

Do you have a voltage tester?
see what voltage you have at the battery terminals while cranking
and see what is is at the starter motor terminal while cranking

If the battery is OK but not at the starter,
use the meter while cranking to ferret out the cause(s) of the voltage drop

My 2002 F60 thats use the same starter (69W-81800-**) does exactely the same thing. Swapped for a older starter as 6E5-81800-** same thing. Even using diferent electronics as wire harness, CDI etc Soon the flywheel spin at some rotation (but not with the motor running) the starter/bendiz disengage .
        This shouldnt happen IMO
        What is the reason? IDK

The 6E5-800-** starter is used on 2 strokes 100, 115, 130, 140, 150, 175 etc etc and I guess that doesnt happen but IDK
