  • 2009 90hp starting issues

    So here goes again
my brother was having issues with his 90hp starting ,
I am 2000km away so i can only give him over the phone advice ,
last year he was having issues starting ,most cases he would have to hold the fast idle to get it running , this tellms me its a fuel problem , once it runs and warms up he says no issues but sometimes idles up and down , well needles to say the bastard caught on fire and pretty much melted every wire on it while lobster fishing , he has since brought it to a yammie guy who had a pile of parts and he apparently changed everything but the ecm, he suspected the voltage reg was gone and it over charged .kind of made sense for a bit as overcharging would cause sensors to act up or even injectors i guess, well he spent 1800 bux to have repaired ,installed it today only to find he still has to hold the fast idle to get it running , does any of this make sense ?

    Model?

And yeah, assuming the idle issue is fuel related, it makes sense he's still got the same issue bc he never resolved it prior to the fire.

isn't this is the type of post where Rodbolt would give his
"insert the knife between the second and third rib. " advice?

could be an F90 - or 2009 was also the last year for the carbed 2-smoke 90

he mentions injectors so it must be a F90
also km so not likely the motor is one from around the USA

holding the fast idle could mean he has to open the throttle some to allow more air in.
if so, that would mean too rich on fuel at idle .
could the IAC not me working?
            or too much fuel pressure,
over filling of the VST and dumping fuel into the intake ?

It is oh so difficult to put an F before the two, maybe three, numbers and two, maybe three, letters after those two, maybe three, numbers.

I am starting to rethink trying to help wannabee backyardigans. If they are incapable of stating a model identity are they capable of removing the top cowling?

Hell, they might even need help getting a motor to a dealer.

              What say yee?

Not trying to be sarcastic. Trying to make a point. Thought we would have had it the first go round.
