    I am rebuilding these carbs

1989 115ETXF Yamaha Outboard CARBURETOR Diagram and Parts

I'm finding it challenging to get #20 and #26 off. Any suggestions? Is it crucial to get all parts off when rebuilding or can carb cleaner and high pressure air do the trick?

If yours is like mine these are brass. What I did was put the carb in a vice and use a small flat screwdriver and give it a small tap on the left hand (unscrew) side of the screw. It will break it loose. I struggled with this screw on my first attempt. I used vice grips on a big screwdriver to no avail but when I used a small hammer with the small screwdriver, she came loose real easy.
Be careful not to lose the washers.
Also be careful of washers #21&12. They can stick in the bore and when HP is used they can vanish into never never land.
Yes, I believe it is always good to remove all things covering air passages and use HP air for blowing them out. Why do the job twice?
