    I was looking for information on anti-siphon valves, fuel pump suction, etc -
    marine / Yamaha related -
    and came across this fascinating paper on how a siphon works

    I did not see anything on siphon in that link

    did it talk about fluid seeking the same level between 2 connected tanks

      Not working for me either. I get nature.com opened but nothing related to a siphon.

      What particular question/comment did you have regarding Yamaha and the fuel pumps?

        tried this many different ways and can't get a link to work

        my research wasn't specifically Yamaha related,
        I was trying to find a stated value for the 'cracking pressure'
        of a common integrated-into-a-hose-barb anti-siphon valve
        as commonly installed in small boat fuel tanks.

        couldn't find any numbers.

          well just clicking on that link you posted last worked to go to article.

          I think Rod has posted before on what the break is normally, but not sure on what size tanks

          they are just spring loaded check valves, right?
          they should have a known amount that they close off at

            Ah so.

            Here is what ABYC says "Anti-Siphon Valve - A valve which must be opened by fuel
            pump suction to withdraw fuel from the tank and which
            will remain closed without fuel pump suction, preventing
            siphon action created by a break at any point in the fuel
            feed system
            ."

            Seems to me that the height of the fuel above the break point would have some bearing on the 'cracking pressure'. Yes or no? But nowhere is this discussed anywhere that I can see.

                it is called head pressure.
                there is a formula for figuring out line drop below the liquid level for getting a correct Hg" break.
                some hulls don't need them yet have them other hulls really need them and don't.
