  • Trim motor

I have a trim motor that sometimes quits. I tap with a wrench and it starts back up. Boat is in water so I can't change out the trim motor. I was thinking of pulling the cap on the trim motor and cleaning the brushes and armature up and reassembling.
I'm worried that the long bolt may snap or a big boat wake will come by while it is apart.

    Anyone do this before?

    You'll be playng with "fire".

You know a boat will come by, or fluid will leak out or water in.. A rebuilt unit is NOT cheap..

IMO, pull the boat out of the water instead of working upside down over the water..

    Good luck..
