  • Test Run Engine

I have removed a 1994 200 HP (200TXRR) Yamaha from my boat to a stand (Replaced by a new 4 stroke). Is there a way that I can test run it for prospective buyers without the key switch, instruments or main 10 pin wiring harness? The controls and wiring harness, etc remained in the boat to be used with the new motor. Can I just jumper the ignition to the battery connection on the starter and connect a temp switch to the starter solenoid? Does the remote oil pump need to be connected if there is a full tank of oil on the engine? Would not need to demonstrate the tilt-trim or instruments, just run the motor for a short period. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again.

You are better off getting a key switch and 10 pin harness or a used 703 control box. You can run it for a short period without the remote oil tank as long as there is oil in engine tank, I would suggest run on 50:1(oil mix) premix in gas tank.
