  • Adding oil to my new Yamaha

Hi. I just bought a new in the box 9.9hp 4 stroke Yamaha. The user manual says to add .85 liters of 4 stroke oil and the dipstick reads full after only .65liters, is this normal? I do have the motor on a stand and it is completely level. Thanks

There could have been residual oil left in the motor from the production run at the factory. As long as you are between the min and max level on the dip stick you are good to go.

My F150 wants the engine warmed up, then sit, then level checked. (My oil filter is upside down). Make sure if they want it warmed up, then sitting, you follow those directions.

The oil filter may take up some oil once its run.

and that's why the dealer that sold a motor in a box should haave their franchise stripped.

but do you really think a few ounces of oil one way or another will make a difference?

keep the level between the marks and don't worry, be happy.
