• Motor loosing power

I have a 92 Yamaha jet drive with remote start and steering. When I start the motor, it starts fine, runs great, etc. After a mile or so of running on plane, the motor begins to surge and begins loosing power until I have to reduce it to an idle, it may even die altogether once I am at idle. I can shut the motor off and restart it but it is hard to do. It never really recovers unless the motor sits for a few days and then it goes back to running good for about a mile and starts loosing power again.

Could it be the fuel pump or the fuel line that is giving me the problem? It has a 6 gallon tank and a pump ball.

beavstate,
Sounds like the little 6 gallon tank is not venting and a vacuum is forming inside it - check the vent.
I don't think it is the fuel pump - if it was, I don't believe you would get as far as a mile before the trouble appeared.
Good luck ,
