2000 115 Yamaha 2 stoke problems

I have a 2000 115 Yamaha 2 stroke..it recently was run hot (buzzer was going off) so we killed the motor..we were in shallow water...*****ed a little while, tried it again and the buzzer went off again...well since then the motor doesn't have the power it should have...doesn't get on step easy and only does 40 mph...usually does around 55....it has fire on all cylinders and good compression on all cylinders....any advice what it could be?

I would get the water pump changed, I have 01 115 2 stroke and it would sound the overheat alarm, I changed the thermostats and water pump with no more issues

If over heat or low oil alarm was coming in the motor would be limited to about 2K, so I do not think you would be able to hit 40MPH
