  • Flushing motor after use in salt water

Yamaha F115 2006 on Robalo 190cc. After use in salt water I hook up the flushing hose to flush with fresh water.

    Questions:
    1) Should I run the engine when I flush or just let the water run through with the engine off?

    2) when running the water from the hose do I need to be careful of how much pressure goes through? The water pressure at the dock seems pretty stiff.

    Thanks.

you'll find from posts on the forum that you should never run the engine if you only have the flushing port connected. If you are going to run the engine, apply the 'ear muffs' first. Otherwise just flush with the hose.

Unless the pressure is enough to blow off a fitting, it shouldn't matter.
