25 hp 4 stroke runs rough other than idle

Got the boat out for first time this year. I had drained the gas out and tank was empty prior to storage. Filled with fresh gas and primed engine will idle fine but when put in gear goes rough and dies. If I place 2 fingers over carburetor intake it will run fine. I see no adjustments on carb. Believe engine is a 2004 25 hp 4 Stroke, Need Help was going out tomorrow. Thanks

you can go out tomorrow.
however your going to disassemble and clean the carb today.
with two fingers over the air intake your forcing it rich.
tells me some jets/passages got gunky.

And make sure you literally pull the jets and can see light thru them. Won't take but a couple of minutes.

Spraying carb cleaner alone, likely won't cut it if its clogged bad.

Chevron Techtron or Yamaha Ringfree and a stabilzer will prevent later issues once you get them cleaned...
