  • 06 F115 drops a cylinder getting on plane

    Boat will not get on plane under load, back off and on the throttle multiple times and id will jump up and run fine at WOT. I have gone thru the whole fuel system and eliminated that. 250 hours ago had the same problem and it was the pulcer coil. So it has new coil pacs new pulcer coil new stater and new voltage regulator. They say the electrical parts are second to none but could the pulcer coil go bad that fast? Please help. Thank you

    Changed the pulcer coil and not fixed.

      and it wasn't a pulser coil the last time.
      if a pulser coil fails idle speed will increase to about 1100 RPM, ign timing will be fixed at 10*BTDC,code 13 will be thrown and top speed CANNOT be reached.
      there aint but two.
      by pumping at the throttle the ECU sees a rapid change in throttle angle and will add fuel.
      sounds like low rail pressure or a clogged injector.

      nice thing about EFI motors, they will mostly troubleshoot themselves.

        It was the pulcer coil last time. Had the injectors flow benched they are fine. Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge on the rail stayed steady at 44psi while it dropped the cylinder. Unplugged the injector and it bogs worse. Unplug the plug wire and no change for number one cylinder. Switched the coil out same problem.

          by YOUR description it is impossible it was a puser coil.
          the pulser coil is simply an ign TRIGGER.
          the coils are simple 12V coils.
          waste spark.
          if one lead fires the other lead fires.
          that's why its 4 cyl with only TWO pulser coils.

          IF a pulser coil fails the ECU sees the signal loss and DEFAULTS.

          the default IS as FOLLOWS.
          timing is FIXED permanatly and FOREVER at 10* BTDC.
          means idle timing just got high.
          top speed CANNOT, will NOT and can never be reached as ign timing is FIXED at 10* BTDC.

          until that pulser got fixed that is how the ECU is going to work.
          so based on your description its NOT nor was a pulser coil problem.

          BTW, pulser coil output is stupidly simple to check.
