  • Is my 2005 F150 NMEA 2000 Capable?

    I have a 2005? F150TXRD, 63P X 1025540 N with a ECU 63P-30. It does have the white plug with the blue and white wires at the front of the engine. I have hooked up a Garmin 94sv with a NMEA 2000 starter kit, but I do not get any information other than some miscellaneous engine alarms like engine shut down, neutral switch, etc. but no tach or fuel readings. I am doing something wrong or is my engine not NMEA capable? Is there a solution to make it work?

    The -30 ECU is not Command Link compatible.

        Just to be clear, if I replace the ECU with a later revision (a -31 or -32, or higher) then the white plug will become active and NMEA 2000 will start to work. My current part number for the ECU is 63P-8591A-30-00. How much newer model year or revision can I go? How about the entire part number? Do I need to stay with the 63P-8591A...

          You must use a "63P-" -
          anything else is for a different engine and will likely not even "plug in" anyway.

          Yamaha documents identify the -32 as the first "Command Link" (NMEA 2000) capable ECU in 2005

          and the -33 added "Check Engine" and "Water in Fuel" warnings in 2006

          IDK what changed with the -34 in 2008, the -35 in mid-2010, or the -36 in 2011

          "in theory", with the Yamaha part number,
          a change in the "10s column" of the 3rd group ***-***XX-XX-XX means "a different part"
          a change in the "1s column" ***-***XX-XX-XX means "a minor change"

          so "it may be" that up through a -36 will work fine with your engine.

          Boscoe might provide greater assurance.

            Interesting that the -30 supercedes all the way to the -38. So I would surmise that a -32, -33, -34, -35, -36, -37 or -38 would work. There was no -31 offered here in the US. Don't know about that one.

              Hi hello . I have 2 motors that the Right side
              have a 63p-10 ECM and the other one have a 63p-32 but the label the vin start with 64P Is that normal they are both 2004 F150 TXRC . Im having problem with the ecm 63P-10 can i replace with a 63p-32 ..

                64P is the equivalent of a 63P model. The 64P just notes that it is a counter rotation model. The 64P model should be an LF150TXRC.

                Why are you wanting to replace a -10 ECU with a -32 ECU?

                  Thanks . So can i install a 6P-32 on my F150TXRC that has a 63P-10 . I have no comunication with scan tool . I Got another 63p -32 will it work .

                    I suspect that a -3X ECM will not 'work' on an engine built with a -10.
                    because several of the pins are 're-mapped".

                    But since you already have a -32
                    you can swap it and see what happens.

                      I know this post is a bit dated but my experience may help others. I have a similar setup as the OP (2005 F150TXRD ECU 63P-30). My Garmin 54CV wouldn't reliably receive NMEA 2000 engine data (gauge data would cut off after 10 seconds). My solution was to upgrade the ECU to a -33 (ebay). Did that today and it now works perfectly and I get all expected engine data and the F150 runs fine. Hope this helps someone else. Also, important to note that your engine hours go with the ECU, so they will change if you decide to swap ECUs.
