• Fuel Burn GPH

I have a yamaha 1998 c series 115hp outboard on a 18 ft Sea Pro. Trying to find out GPH fuel burn at diiferent RPM settings. I haven’t calculated any myself but I feel its excessively high. Trying to find a test artical on the engine??

curt,
I have basically the same motor - a 2000 C115.
My boat, a Pathfinder 1806V, weighs about 1100 pounds, dry. With two people on board and fuel and tackle and ice chests, I average about 3.5 mpg on a typical fishing trip.
I believe you can go to the Yamaha web page and link over to performance bulletins for different boats - maybe you can find your boat there or one that is similiar. Try this url:
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard.../perfbull.aspx

For my boat with a Yamaha 115 (2-stroke), the best fuel economy is around 4000 rpm - assuming the boat is on plane and motor trimmed to max w/o ventilation.
Hope this helps ,
