  • Remote Oil Tank wiring

I recently purchased a very little used 1986 115 ETLJ that was removed from a junk boat. However the oil tank and apparent wiring was left with the boat. I did get the controls and cables, I mounted the engine and controls and ordered a new 6YR-W0035-95-00 remote oil tank kit. I have no wiring instructions or schematic. Will this kit work and if so, do I need an adapter harness. I don't see any loose wire connectors. The oil buzzer comes on when the key is in the on position and goes off after energizing the pump manually to fill the engine oil tank. Thanks in advance for your help.

In all honesty, on an engine that old, I would run premix gas. To many components can fail and by the time the warning horn goes off, It's usually too late, damage is already done. 50:1 or 1 qt per 12 gallons of fuel. Just my opinion.

I would make sure that the engine and its related components are all in good working condition and use the oil injection system.

The oiling system on a Yamaha is very, very reliable.

        Just another opinion.
