  • 2017 F150 whining sound

My F150 is making a high pitch whining sound but not loud kinda like turbine sound at mid to high rpm . I’m not sure if this is normal. Motor has 70 hrs on it

It's NOT normal... I'd be seeing the dealer..

      balancer maybe
Warranty should take care of it,
just do not let it hurt the motor

Or maybe drive shaft bushing needs greasing

It’s a faint whining sound about 4200 rpm and goes away at higher rpm

Balancer just gets louder as rpm increases. I could only hear my driveshaft bushing at idle.

              I can't hear it....

Maybe with a helper and the cowl off the recording would be better...

*When my mid shaft bushing was dry, it would "squeak" at about 1,800 RPM's. I would literally be looking around for a nest of birds....

You aren't in SW Florida are you?

I don't hear anything abnormal. There are a couple videos on YouTube regarding noisy balancers. Not hearing that.

I would keep on boating. Issues typically get worse and I am betting there is no issue.

I'll listen a little closer to my motor this weekend.

I don't know if Rodbolt can view YouTube........

dude. it should be under warrenty still.
                    take it to a pro.
use the Yamaha dealer locator and find a shop with at least one master tech.
if it is a balancer and it fails it typically takes the power head with it.
takes about 1 hour to change a balancer.
takes me about 16 to change a power head.

Rodbolt, did you listen to the video?

Be better to have a video with motor idling with cowl off to listen for balancer,
                      maybe revving it slightly.
