  • Motor runs rough

    But only while cranking.

Only at tickover is that correct? Do you know why it fails to crank?

I was reading about crank over at the other site. Or maybe was it was stuff written by crackheads. Don't know for sure.

Nope. Only rough while the starter is engaged. Ragged really.

I don’t believe my motor has ever ticked over. At least I hope not. Sounds awful.

        ???????????? You serious?

How can it run rough when it doesn't start?

and then there is "surging" and "bogging" - no idea what either means -

I think there was a post recently complaining of "bogging at idle"

Did you check the float levels?

Run some sea foam through it, that fixes everything, including the gearcase, make sure the battery cables "look" clean, can't be dirty carbs because you cleaned them three years ago, can't be the spark plugs, because you soaked them in Draino once, do a compression test too, this is a diesel isn't it?

Use that "tool" between your ears...

It's stupidly simple and kicks many a techs butt..

                    Fine. I was bored.

WTH is ticking over? We may need to define that for someone including myself. Ausnoelm might know. He ain’t from around here.

That is the problem with THT. People talk out their arse about matters of which they know absolutely nothing. They speak well however. The masses read and believe their crap. They go forth and multiply with the false information. Fake news if you will.

Too bad The Donald is not a boater. He would kick some behinds over there.

Might be using a stop watch at idle.....nah, it is a term for idle, though I don't hear it often, as in, never!

I would not have guessed idling.
