Year of my engine

Hi, I just bought my first boat and live in Holland. It has a Yamaha engine and I was wondering what year it was built?
The ID plate on the side reads;

Yamaha F9.9AE
6G8 L 405941

What does the month/year of manufacturer sticker on the other side of the motor say?

The model you provided does not seem to agree with Yamaha's methodology of identifying their motors. Yams with a 6G8 prefix are usually a T9.9 or FT9.9, not an F9.9.

Having said all of that I would guess your motor is circa 1999.

All of my data shows an F9.9 as being a 6G9 prefix motor.

yep, but in fact is strange because the F9.9 match with T9.9 with PIB 6G8 when FT9.9 should match with T9.9

May be a typo?

6G9 match with F9.9B, BM, BMH, BE, BEM, BEH etc that match with F9.9MSH; MLH, ESH, ELR etc depending on S/N
