  • 84' 150 ETLN Starting Issue

My 84' 150 ETLN is having problems starting, Last week it started and idled fine but now it just cranks and won't start. Fuel ball stayed fairly hard. Put new fuel 90 octane with additive due to ethanol at all of our gas stations. I ordered new fuel pumps but have not gotten them yet to put on as the ones now are original. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you never replaced the fuel pumps in 30 years?
Did you do any maintenance to this motor?

Compression and spark are easy to test do that 1st

Ha yes sorry the boat was maintained very well. The engine has 251 hours on it, so it was barely used. I just tried starting it again and it fired and ran for about 10 seconds and then died. I replaced all plugs and wires, fuel, oil, as well as the oil pump batteries gear oil etc. The boat has not been started since 2005, till now as it was barn stored.

need to test to see if spark is there or not, whan it will not start

have you checked compression, a motor that set up that long may have sealing issues
make sure spark will jump 7/16 gap on all cylinders, and timing is in spec?

If they all are good then it is fuel issue
