  • Yamaha 50hp warning horn

I have a 2001 Yamaha 50hp that the warning horn is beeping. I disconnected the green wire connector coming from the oil tank sending unit and it quits beeping and no longer goes into rev limiter mode. Ohmed the two green wires coming from the float. Has reading one way no reading the other way.
What other component do I need to check?

You need to get a service manual and then follow the procedure for testing the sensor. If the sensor tests OK you would then proceed to check the wiring.

You mention a green connector. I see four wires that need to be checked. Green, black, pink and green with a red tracer.

Why would you use the ohm setting to check the sensor switches for continuity/no continuity?

the unit grounds the wires to the black wire when the float closes the switches
