Re-power

I need to re-power , I have a 1999 yam 60 hp 2 stroke. I want to get a new 60 hp 4 stroke. I have heard guys talk about 10 pin and 8 pin motors. What does that refer to, and will I be able to use my controls from the old 2 stroke?

some of the old 2 and 3 cylinder motors did not have trim and tilt and some did not need key on power.
those used a harness that only had seven pins.
its easy to tell if your control box/ign harness will work.
simply count the pins.
10 pins and your ****en.
less and its time to update the old stuff.
