  • power head anodes

I purchased a 97 gw last year w twin 225s . I was reading the Yamaha service manual and noticed that the power head has 4 anodes how often do they need to be changed and how do you get them out?

can we get engine model numbers?
there were a lot of 225 hp models.

You could pop one or two out and check condition. If they are like mine, the rubber grommet/seals will be prob be deformed and need to be replaced even if you don't replace anodes.

        like I said.
we need a model number as the 225 hp Yamaha has been made in both 2 and 4 stroke and in 2.6L,3.1L,and 3.3L as well as 4.2LFour.
all had different methods of installing internal anodes.
which BTW are an incredible waste of time and money.

          Please tell me more...

I have done some reading since I had a diesel powered trawler at one time, but that is a completely different animal from an outboard.

And by the way, the Perkins diesel did not have any anodes :-)

wont say anything more until I know what 225 hp Yamaha motors you wish to discuss.
no sense in only one of us being clueless.

the F250 and the L225TXRV have NO internal components that are similar.

on the L225, leave the internal anodes alone.
                  waste of time and money.

if you wish to pull the heads and change them go ahead.
you will find that other than a white calcified coating they look new.
the new ones will look like the old ones about the third time they dry out.

                      Hi all,

my first post here so please be kind lol.

Was trying to change my head anodes and find myself in a dilemma now... while trying to pull one out it has crumbled into pieces and has fallen back into the engine head! Back into the engine not out of the engine... please need your help on what I should do. I would really appreciate anyone's help so much. Thank you.

                      Regards
                      Bashir

                        like I said.
we MUST have an engine model number to coherently disscuss anything.

so start a new thread, helps avoid confusion.
in the new thread POST the MODEL number.
if not see my altenator post.
