In all fairness to the OP, there are some trained and reportedly qualified Yamaha mokaniks who have done the same thing. Wrong gasket with the wrong (or right) upper casing. They could have paid attention to the technical bulletin but apparently chose not to. At their own peril. I wonder if the dealer man made them fix their mistake on their own time? How does that work at rodnut's shop?

I have not seen the "tech bulletiin" - I assume that was subsequent to the 2006 Marine Technical Guide ?
does not a "I/C rank" of "B" mean that the newer gasket can be used with the older part?
if I once understood what the unfilled or solid "bullets" mean, I've forgotten...

expert gents...is the 6mm hole in the 10-8D upper casing a hole IN the casing for identification purposes or an actual drain-hole THRU the casing? if a hole thru, what is draining and to where into the LU does it drain? just curious and enjoying the education...

my post above #18 shows the Yamaha notice of the change - "added the drain hole"
here is a photo of my F225TXRD (2005 - does not have the extra hole)

I don't understand the point of the single additional 6mm hole -
when water is already draining out of - 9? - existing holes surrounding the muffler opening -
you can see it in this video link:

other wise would trap some water in that area
Just a guess
