  • RPM flucuating under rough Conditions

Ok so I have a 1996 Yama salt water series2 200HP.. now my motor runs fine but when I have it in really rough conditions like 3ft-4ft seas (I know you have been in worse) my RPM might fluctuate or when I apply full throttle it rev really high with out the power to motor I do have a Dusky drive on my boat any thoughts thanks.

spun prop hub or maybe just catching air/cavitation would be my guess

and we still have no clue cause we still have no model number information.
I know what it should be but many times hoods and decals get replaced.
a model number tells me exactly what fuel and ign system I am discussing.

what the "dusky drive" is is simply an outboard bracket.
this setback allows for a higher engine mounting.
this can lead to issues in heavy seas mainly the prop catching air.
4 blade props sometimes aid this issue.
also in heavy seas you may have to use less trim.

Yeah thanks for that I sometimes think I may use a little to much trim... and yes you are right on the purpose of the bracket my engine model number is a 1996 s200TXRU thanks for the help.

I have only done this about 30 years.

the reason a model number is so important is over the years Yamaha has made about 9 different 2.6L v6 models.
              not all the parts interchange.
              most the covers would.
