  • Wear Collar

I see SIMMS sells a kit with wear collar, installation tool, and locktite. Shipping for this kit is more than the kit itself. Ive got the collar and locktite and my service manual says to tap the collar on with a plastic hammer. Do i really need the installation tool? Looks like the right size socket would work. Never changed one, just making sure its done right.

Ask Andy at Sim. He is a good guy. His email is posted everywhere.

"If the installation tool is too short, a length of pipe or tubing with a squared-off, burr-free end can be used. Be sure that the inside diameter of the pipe is the same as that of the installation tool. Use care not to scratch the precision ground sleeve’s outside diameter. "

          depends.
          are you installing the collar?
          are you installing a sleeve???
the two are NOT interchangeable but both are self explanatory for installation.
