  • 1990 15hp manual start charging

I have a 15LD and I added a rectifier thinking it would be able to charge my battery. When I connect to the battery the fuse I installed on the power cable (+) keeps blowing. Can this setup be used to charge at all? Do I need a fuse? I don't want to try without one yet. I tried from 10 Amp to 30 and the fuse blows as soon as I connect the battery. There is plenty of juice coming out of the rectifier.
    Thanks

Recheck the rectifier wiring, green wires connect to green wires on lighting coil, red rectifier wire connects to positive battery post and if has the black wire then ground to engine block and to negative battery post, and mount rectifier to engine block or a good ground. If wiring is ok then test lighting coil and rectifier for shorts.

I show that the coil has a .35 resistance and rectifier is ok. I got it working output about 5 amps at high rpm.
      Thanks
