  • Timing Problem F80A

The timing on my F80A at start up cold was approx 8 degrees retarded as the engine warmed up the timing gradually went to 5 degrees advance, increasing the engine revs the timing advanced to approx 20 degrees advance, when I slowed the motor to idle the timing went back to approx 8 degrees retarded and was unstable, when increasing revs it would only advance as far as approx zero to 2 degrees advance and would then vary between retard and advance, number 2 cylinder is also running extremely lean while the rest are good.

The timming is con*****ed by the CDI which uses signal's from Pulsor coils, thermosensors and Throttle position sensor to adjust timming. Test all the control sensors first before replacing CDI unit.
