'87 115 tilt/trim

Wondering if anyone knows if you can remove the tilt/trim unit from the transom engine brackets with out removing the entire mount from the boat. I removed all the bolts and the pivot pin and can get the unit to move freely, but can't get the unit out. Can you only take it out from the back of the mount? or can you remove the electric motor or resevior to get it out. thanks in advance.

You can take the right side transom bracket loose from boat and power trim unit, loosen the nut on tilt tube and slide transom bracket out enough to get power trim unit out between brackets.

what if you can't loosen the tilt tube bolt...way to rusted. Can you just loosen both sides of the brackets. Or can you still do just one?

If you cant get the tilt tube nut off then you will have to pull motor off of boat and the trim unit will come out from back of bracket.
