  • QUESTION Re: ?115TLR? 2 Stroke Manufactured 6/99

    Hi All ,

My first post here. I have questions about a motor that I own that is
mounted to a 18.5 ft SAILFISH flats boat. The little plate on the PORT
side is mostly broken off. So I don't know the serial number nor model
number. Is there somewhere else on the motor to look for a serial or
model number? The little plate on the STARBOARD side says the motor
was manufactured 6/99. Based on my research so far, the final letter
in the MODEL number should be either an X or a Y, depending I guess,
on the MONTH that Yamaha changed the model year. {Maybe I'm wrong
about that} It seems there is a LETTER: B, C or S that should precede
the 115 portion of the MODEL number. What would each of these let-
ters, B,C,S mean? I have power tilt, trim, and electric start; 20 inch
shaft; remote control, not tiller; and it's got an oil tank so it's oil injected.
Putting all this together it seems my MODEL no. ought to be something
like: B115TLRX or C115TLRY or S115TLRX or something along this basic
    pattern.
Can anyone please help me with info? I'd really appreciate it.

    Thank you,
    JACK

B would indicate an inshore model, C would indicate a commercial model S would indicate a saltwater series and no prefix indicates a standard 115 with precision blend.

      Thank you for that info!
Can you state what the differences are between the four?

Also, any idea if my engine MODEL No. should end in X or Y,
being manufactured in June of '99?

In Europe I think your model would have been a 115CETO L(U), with the 'U' being the 1999, with a serial number ranging from 6E5-404067 to 6E5-405540.

These were long shaft models with electric starters, remote steering and tilt/trim

          mostly marketing gimmicks.
the C model wont have oil injection.
as to the X or Y, it really does not matter.

Rodbolt I think he is just asking when the model changes during the production year.

            My 1999 C40TLRX has a production date 4/98,
so his made 6/1999 would be a (Y)2000 in by thoughts

no published data on any correlation to date codes VS production year codes.
