  • Number on CDI

I have tried to learn about the part numbers on the CDI box. My original CDI has numbers CU 7386, then in smaller letters the numbers oz25. Can anyone tell me what the 4 digits at the end are for? I have reason to believe the CDI box is bad, as the center cylinder on my 01 90 hp. 2 cycle has a weak spark at low rpm. I'm having a hard time finding people who know what parts will fit my motor.

How can we help when we don't even know the brand of the motor?

          A 90TLRA used a 6H0-85540-04-00 CDI. The part should be marked with 6H0 - 04.

As noted, go to the Yam parts catalog and you will find every part number for every part used on your motor.

weak spark is not an indication of a bad CDI.
the CDI does NOT amplify or boost any voltages.
it simply rectifies whatever A/C voltage the stator sends it, stores it in a capacitor waiting for a trigger signal to discharge the capacitor into the ign coil primary.

typically low voltage out means a low voltage in.
