  • 1999 Yamaha O/B not cooling

I checked the outflow port on the lower left side of the engine. I used a pipe cleaner and no debris came out. I removed the grid on the intake and did the same thing, and no debris. I would expect at least impeller debris, but nothing. It bubbles a lot from the lower leg when running now.
Should I remove the lower leg to inspect the impeller...or is there anything else I can do first? Recommendations?

    One more thing...parts!

Assuming I need parts, where is a fast inexpensive place to order from here in Canada?
    Much Thanks!

If you have cooling issues start at the source, the water pump.
It should be replaced at least every 2 years even if the motor is not used very much. It is a rubber part, rubber gets hard, takes a set, and cracks.

With the lower unit off shoot water up the pipe so you can see if there is any blockage farther up into the powerhead.

If the water pump has not been replaced in a while, now is the time to pull the t-stats and poppit valve and replace. With these out you can shoot water thru the cooling passages and see if they are clear.

A good source for parts is right here on this site.
