Yamaha OX-66 Tach temp indicator

have a 2000 Yamaha 250 HP OX-66 Saltwater Series, when I turn the key to the first position, both the oil and temp indicators blink on the Tach gauge but then the oil indicator goes out--the temp indicator keeps blinking,,,I dont remember it ever doing that..what is that indicating?? engine starts fine but it blinks..cant be a high temp because the enigine is cold..

1. Oil filtered clogging? Changed/inspected lately?

2. Themostats starting to malfunction?
