Clean corrision water pump housing

On a F90TLR the water pump impeller sets on the water pump housing.

The housing that I have has some corrosion but is still in good shape.

Any suggestions on how to clean off the corrosion? It was used in saltwater.

I'd use any mild acid and an old toothbrush. Vinegar is good, CLR is good....I keep a gallon of muriatic acid in my shop for stuff like that...but you need to be ready to rinse it with plenty of water!....

never looked a F90 water pump , but all others I have worked on, the housing was plastic. so no corrosion.
There was a metal cup and wear plate the impeller rides against and they come with the water pump kit.
it is always a good idea to buy the kit for a few $ more than just impeller
