  • MFR says 100:1 !?!?

Yamaha says to mix gas/oil at 100:1 on my 8hp but most people I've spoken to say mix it at 50:1.
    Any advice?

I would go with what the manufacture says. But it seems awful lean to me.You could always run 50:1 and bring extra plugs.Buy the way,you have really long ears!!!

go for the medium...75 to 1....!
if its an older motor some extra oil will be good...
for myself.... I have an old 40B for 100/1 but i prefer 75/1 no problem with spark-plug's....

        FROM YAMAHA INSTRUCTIONS:

For all YAMAHA models before 1981 use 50:1

        After 1981, premix motors:
        2Hp until 40Hp use 100:1
        50Hp until 85Hp use 50:1

Always use TCW-3 outboard oil, YAMALUBE or equivalent (such you pay, such you take).
        -------------------------------------------------

More oil occurs carbon deposits special in the piston grooves! (forward spoilage).

You can use 50:1, after long time storage (over 2 months), or when you want to storage.
