    for polyester....take a good UV resistent car-wax!

      best methode??
by hand!...polishing machines can heat polyester to much
gelcoat becomes soft at high temps..(+/- 75C)
and then the glas-fibers may shine trough...

anytime anyone wants to hand wax my boat...ive got all the beer you can drink waiting here for ya, and i know noone that would even attempt a handwax in this area....maybe they make a different gelcoat in your part of the world..but mine has held up to 13 years of ME and the elements beatin the sheet out of it and ive used 3m for years....altho my least liked boat maintenance chore.

3m is fine...especially when when gelcoat lost its gloss...depends also of the thickness of the gelcoat...
when you use machine rubbing just be carefull and not holding it to long on the same spot...

                    Ressiv,

I agree heat caused by a powered head can be dangerous and harmful in many waxing applications. If used correctly they are awesome and certainly do the job well IMO.

we are on the same line....
originaly the question was how to wax an boat...
when gelcoat condition is good you can treath it as waxing an car...polyester needs to be waxed!
but use silicon-free wax!!!silicones are very nasty when you need to do an repair ... and regard...the so called "special boat waxes" can be unnessary expencive.....
hey greetings from a cold holland..

I FOUND COLONITE FLEET WAX IS THE BEST. I HAVE TRIED 3M AMONG OTHERS STARBRITE OR WHATEVER.
IT GOES ON EASY COMES OFF EASY AND LASTS THE FULL SEASON.

I like Collonite Fleetwax hands down. You can find it at any West Marine.

I like any kind of wax that applies itself...

                            Bit warmer in Canada today.
