  • Tilt and trim not working-relay? recitifier?

I recently tried to use my boat and the motor went up just fine but then would not go down. When I try to go up or down now it just makes a clicking noise like when a car's battery dies. A friend of mine was able to take a couple wires off of what I thought was the tilt trim relay but apparently was actually the rectifier and jump it making the motor tilt down. When attempting to go back up we blew a fuse. I assumed it was the relay that was bad but now I think it is the rectifier. Can a bad rectifier cause the tilt trim not to work? I thought it was linked to the motor's altenator charging system and had nothing to do with the tilt and trim. Any help/ideas? Motor is a C75tlrs

Also, the tachometer has been jumping all over the place which leads to to lean towards the rectifier being bad also.

NO the rectifier is part of the charging system.
has NOTING in common other than the battery with the engines electrical system.
you now may have a technician induced failure as well as a bad trim relay.
