Spark plug gap question

I have a 1998 Yamaha 9.9HP 2 stroke and am not sure what to gap the plugs at. The owners manual says .031-.035" but there is a sticker inside the engine housing which calls for .040" gap. I know it's not a huge difference but I'd like to know which is correct.

I would go with the sticker on the engine.
